Garry Shandling

The accidental stand up comic/chat show host who was the envy of early 80's comedians and ended up 'spoofing' it all in the 'The Larry Sanders Show' . His routine saw him taking on the persona of an angst-ridden and confused man who was always on the verge of losing his grip. Shandling is also known for his jokes about his hard-to-manage hair!
George Burns

Arguably one of the greatest figures of 20th century American comedy. His arched eyebrows and trademark cigar smoking were as much a part of his routines as his gags, which drew laughs from their subtlety.
George Carlin

Grammy-winning American stand-up comedian noted for his monologues with a strong emphasis on social commentary and language. He's also renowned for dealing with taboo subjects. The radio broadcast of one of his un-censored routines became the centre of a debate over censorship, and brought about FCC legislation over profanity.
Gina Yashere

Known for her brash style and no-nonsense demeanour, Yashere is one of the leading UK female figures in stand-up comedy. Her bawdy wit and bombastic delivery has given her a cult following all around the country.
Graham Norton

This self-proclaimed 'shiny Irish poof' is one of the UK's biggest comedy exports. His cheeky yet somehow inoffensive humour has made him a huge hit in America. He's best known for his raunchy celebrity interviews and prank phone calls, the latter which were a feature of his early stand-up routines.
