Felicity Jones is best known for voicing Emma Grundy on the BBC radio drama The Archers since 2000. Since graduating from Oxford, where she read English, in 2006 Felicity has also played the lead role of Catherine Morland in ITV's Northanger Abbey as part of their Jane Austen season. Felicity's other TV credits also include Servants and the role of bully Ethel Hallow in the popular children's show The Worst Witch and its spin-off Weirdsister College.
"I think I probably am like Zoë Brogan in some ways," muses Felicity Jones. "She's very sharp and quick-witted, and doesn't suffer fools gladly. Zoë has a wonderful independence about her. She hasn't necessarily had the love and affection from her parents that she wanted or felt she deserved and that has given her a defensive streak. And she's looking to find her place in the world. In Meadowlands she's looking for someone to hold on to.
"It used to be her father, whom she worshipped without acknowledging his failings. But Zoë has her eyes opened when she befriends Tom Tyrell and the pair of them get closer to learning the truth about her father. Disillusionment sets in and she becomes more withdrawn."
She adds, "Everyday I learnt so much from my TV family. I couldn't have asked for a better ensemble to work with and I was constantly surprised by their spontaneity and creativity. I loved shooting the family scenes so much because everyone had such a distinctive way of working. I felt we were all really in the moment as our true selves blurred into our characters. That family base is what gives Cape Wrath its individuality – the domestic relationships keep it rooted in reality whilst it seems so unreal in other ways."
Jones especially enjoyed working with her screen twin Mark, played by Harry Treadaway. "We had an amazing working relationship and both of us fuelled the other's desire to make our bond totally believable. There's a way of moving and connection between twins that is unique and unlike any other sibling bond. I'd watch Harry with his real-life twin Luke for pointers and noted their actions and when they started talking to each other. It's that slight telepathy, where talk is superfluous, that became the key and it became our main foundation for the Brogan twins."
