Ah.
Watching Idlewild performing "A Modern Way Of Letting Go"
reminds you of what a proper live experience is like. Power, presence,
energy, and jumping up and down like a teenager on cider.

We dragged Rod and Allan away from their Southern Comfort
cocktails to waste their time with this:
What you up to in 2003? Touring America and Australia.
Oh yeah you guys are quite big in America? ROD: I wouldn’t
say big but we’re selling out small clubs. ALLAN: We've become
a bit of a cult band. Where's the coolest place you’ve
been in the US? ROD: Athens, Georgia. Where REM come from.
ALLAN: Yeah, it’s just got an amazing club and bar scene. What
you been listening to recently? ROD: ELO. Lou Reed. Queens
Of The Stone Age. Polyphonic Spree Which bands do you rate
at the moment? ROD: The Walkmen. Superb. From New York and
Washington. What was the first record you ever bought?
ROD: Do They Know It’s Christmas ALLAN: Metallica: Kill Them
All What about first album? ROD: The 'Final Countdown'
- Europe. I’m not proud of it. Ever been to any gigs
you’re embarrassed about? ROD: Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.
ALAN: Eric Clapton. With my dad. Royal Albert Hall. And New Model
Army at Aldershot Civic Hall. Tell us an amazing fact. ALLAN:
I was a teenage Badminton champion. ROD: The way in which you’re
born determines whether you’re clumsy or not. Thank
you.
