We found Mark (guitarist) and Guy (singer) slipping in their scary
contact lenses and demanded replies to the following demands:
What you guys up to in 2003? MARK: We're planning
to start recording a new album in May. GUY: Should be out in September.
But mainly this year we're going to tour and tour and have it basically.
What have you been listening to recently? MARK: Mr
Bungle! I got a Mr Bungle CD for Christmas, Fischerspooner, and since
Joe Strummer died I've been swotting up on The Clash. GUY: I've been
listening to the Little Hell album 'Welcome To The DAC', Torquemada'.
Who do you rate at the moment? British Sea Power
- been looking forward to seeing what they're going to do. We were
talking to Bruce Dickinson the other day and Iron Maiden are recording
their new album now. So that should be interesting. You heard
it here first. What was the first record you ever bought?
GUY: Now That's What I Call Music 11. Very sad. Could've been 'New
Kids On The Block' Hanging Tough. We were big fans. We used to do
the dance routine with the tennis rackets. We've got this
on tape. Yeah very sad. Take On Me A-ha was also very influential.
Are you sure you want to be admitting this? MARK: I can't remember.
The first record that was bought for me was Michael Jackson 'Bad'.
Even been to any embarrassing gigs? I went to see
Cast at the Brighton Centre. Mark: I was quite into the Levellers
when I was twelve. Finally, can you tell us one amazing fact
about anything in the world? GUY: In the
Amazon forest last year a flock of parots that haven't been spotted
since 1908 were seen - fourteen on them in the flock. People thought
they were extinct or possibly just a mythical bird. Best story I read
in the newspaper last year, quite a shocker since it wasn't guns,
rape, carnage, war, suffering.
