Wake up Kate, time for work!
Wake up Kate, time for work!

Katie, Katie - RI:SE and shine!
02-April-2003

Ever wanted to wake up with Kate Lawler? Well, over the next few weeks you'll get your chance. Big Brother's very own Kate is set to take over from Edith Bowman as co-presenter of RI:SE, Channel 4's breakfast show, alongside comedian Iain Lee.

The chemistry between the two onscreen anchors could provide an intriguing spectacle. We wonder if Kate will have had the chance to read some of the comments Iain wrote about her last year during her internment in the Big Brother house?

Judging from his remarks about Kate in the second week of last year's show, it seems that the blonde keep-fit fanatic made a poor first impression him, accusing her of behaving like a “lovesick puppy” with Spencer.

Iain even welcomed the idea of the Rich/Poor divide, which was hugely unpopular with the housemates, and wrote that one of the reasons he was in favour of it was: "Kate needs to learn a few hardships."

However Kate has nothing to worry about. Before BB ended it seems that she had won both his and the nation’s heart. In Iain’s own words:

"A worrying development... is that I think I may have fallen in love with Kate. I hadn’t really paid her much attention at all throughout the whole run but the other night I had one of those dreams. Not a raunchy one, but the kind where you just hang out with someone and do nice things then wake up madly and irrationally in love."

Ah bless! So that's all right then. But perhaps Kate shouldn't relax too much - bearing in mind the impulsive nature of her new co-presenter...
