The Grasshopper Experiment
In time honoured Big Bang Theory tradition, Sheldon's got a gripe and this time it's with his wallet. He's got too many cards to fit in the slots of his new man purse! However, this problem is soon interrupted by Raj, as he shows his parents around Leonard and Sheldon's apartment via a webcam. The Koothrappali's soon inform their son and his friends that they've set Raj up for a date with Lolita, a dental student from USC. They want grandchildren!
Sheldon resolves his wallet conundrum by cancelling his planetarium membership, "It was between you and the national museum of history and, frankly, you don't have dinosaurs." Lolita has left a voicemail for Raj, and he doesn't know how to respond to it, but Howard does. He grabs hold of Raj's mobile, calls Lolita, puts on a mock-Indian accent and arranges a date for Raj. Penny enters the apartment and asks if the guys are willing to be cocktail guinea pigs. She's now got a position behind the bar at work and wants to test out her drink making skills. Due to Raj's current position he's more than willing to sample Penny's best cocktail, the Grasshopper. It becomes apparent that when intoxicated by alcohol Raj can actually talk to the opposite sex, so he decides that he'll have to get drunk on his date if wants to partake in any conversation.
Drink certainly isn't the solution for Raj, as he inadvertently insults Lolita at various intervals. Whereas Raj is dismally failing to impress Lolita, Sheldon is positively shining in her presence by comparing her to an Indian princess – she reminds him of a character from a children’s book that he once related to. Lolita rejects Raj and goes for food with Sheldon instead.
Raj, over webcam, informs his parents of his dating failure before Sheldon apologises for whisking away Raj's potential partner. Leonard asks Sheldon what went on during their dinner, "We ate. She lectured me on the links between gum disease and heart attacks. Nothing I didn't already know." Leonard asks if he'll see her again to which he responds with, "Why would I see her again, I already have a dentist." Raj's parents aren't the only ones who might not be having grandchildren.
