Good news travels fast and none more so than good geek news. Excitement is all around when Raj, Leonard, Howard and Sheldon discover that their main opponents for the annual physics bowl are not entering a team this year leaving them with a fighting chance…
Cracks in morale emerge early on as feelings run high regarding the relative strengths of army ants and Bengal tigers. A Saturday afternoon practise round results in the unearthing of a further deficiency in team spirit, not to mention an old Nintendo induced wrist injury. The introduction of colour co-ordinated costumes proves to be the final straw and Sheldon is unwittingly ousted from the team.
It appears that a prestigious batman cookie jar is simply not a sufficient blow softener for power-crazed Sheldon who counteracts his rejection by launching a bout of ‘psychological warfare’. Back at the team discussion is centralised around finding a last minute replacement with suggestions ranging from TV’s Blossom to the girl from The Wonder Years. Eventually everyone agrees on local brain box, and one time Leonard lover, Lesley Winkle who is happy to vent personal revenge on misogynistic Sheldon.
The big day arrives and Sheldon turns up with a team of unlikely contestants including a Spanish cleaner and her son…or is it her butcher? Following a close contest Penny attempts to settle the feud once and for all with a few general knowledge questions of her own gleaned from ‘going outside and talking to people’. It turns out that’s not a strength of anyone concerned.
