Day 1 of 18, 12:00
Thursday 06 January

Once again, Big Brother is holding open auditions around the UK & Ireland. There's no need to send in an application form or a video - you just need to turn up at one of the countrywide open auditions, and show Big Brother why you should be chosen to take part.

Big Brother will be visiting Edinburgh, Newcastle, Dublin, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and London from February through to March 2005.

At each location, the producers will select the people who stand out in the queues, to go through to the next stage. It could be a long day, so please wrap up warm and bring something to eat & drink.

There is no guarantee you'll even make it through the door, but if you do, you'll enter one of our diary rooms, and be asked to sell yourself to Big Brother for one full minute. You can do or say anything that will make you stand out from the thousands of applicants, to convince Big Brother why the nation will want to watch you over the summer.

Please note, that you must be over eighteen in the summer of 2005 to apply, so you'll need to bring along photo ID (such as a passport or driving licence) as proof of your age and identity. No ID, no entry. You must also be available in summer 2005 to take part.

The dates and locations are as follows:

Edinburgh - Saturday 5th February 2005: The Edinburgh audition will take place on Saturday 5th February, from 9am at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, 11 Newmarket Road, EH14. You should go to the rear car park entrance. The nearest train station is Slateford Station, and there is a payable car park on site if you're driving.

Newcastle - Saturday 12th February 2005: The Newcastle audition will take place on Saturday 12th February, from 9am at Newcastle United Football Club, St James' Park, where you should go to the Milburn reception. The nearest train station is Newcastle Central Station, and there is a payable car park on site if you're driving.

Dublin - Wednesday 16th February 2005: The Dublin audition will take place on Wednesday 16th February, from 9am at the RDS (Royal Dublin Society), Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, where you should make your way to the Anglesea Road entrance. The nearest Dart station is Sandy Mount; there is a payable car park on site if you're driving; and buses run regularly from Dublin city centre.

Manchester - Saturday 19th February 2005: The Manchester audition will take place on Saturday 19th February, from 9am at New Century House, Corporation Street, M60, where you should make your way to the main entrance. Victoria Station is nearest for both main line trains and trams, but Piccadilly Station is only a ten minute walk away. There is a payable car park opposite the venue, if you're driving.

Cardiff - Wednesday 23rd February 2005: The Cardiff audition will take place on Wednesday 23rd February, from 9am at Cardiff City Hall, Cathays Park, CF10, where you should head for the main entrance. The nearest train stations are Cardiff Central & Cardiff Queen Street, and most bus routes pass the City Hall. There is an NCP car park in Greyfriars Road.

Birmingham - Saturday 26th February 2005: The Birmingham audition will take place on Saturday 26th February, from 9am at Thinktank at Millennium Point, Curzon Street, B4, where you should go to entrance G 2 (letter G, number 2), via Curzon Street. Both New Street and Moor Street stations are within walking distance; and there is a payable car park on site.

London - Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th March 2005: The London audition will take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March, from 9am at the Excel Exhibition & Conference Centre, 1 Western Gateway, Royal Victoria Dock, E16, where you should go to the entrance at the East End of the Main Concourse. The nearest DLR train stops are at the Prince Regent & Custom House stations; and there are also payable car parks on site.
