The new sofa area where the housemates gather together for a good natter and gossip will be far less cosy than it has been in recent years.
The designers have chosen a palette of textures and colours aimed at wearing people down. This area is not a place where people will be congregating to meditate about world peace...
The plastic blue seating area is divided into two halves of a circle so the housemates will have to face one another, which can be an intimidating experience.
Set against a backdrop of vivid green and with mirrors on all sides, this is not a cosy nook for private chats but more like a confrontational arena.
The geometric shapes and patterns on the walls help create a disturbing atmosphere for the housemates. It's reminiscent of the crew quarters on the space ship in Aliens, the sci-fi movie.
But in Big Brother everyone can hear you scream...
