BB2 Summary
 Big Brother 1

Week by week diary of what happened when, during the first Big Brother summer in 2000.

Week 1

Mel was the talk of the House after flirting with Andy, Darren and shy farmer Tom in the space of three days.

City man Nick amazed the housemates with several outlandish tales including once working as a male escort.

Andy admitted using prostitutes in Amsterdam, while Bolton lass Nichola shocked the girls by telling them she'd been sacrificed in a previous life.

There was plenty of touchy-feely behaviour with a host of pedicures, massages, body building and yoga sessions. Nichola also instigated a stripping session as some of the housemates made body prints on the wall.

Nick and Andy secretly arranged voting for Sada and Caroline in the first nominations. Nick claimed: "Tom thinks the same". Darren and Craig were not immune to such Machiavellian manoeuvres.

Week 2

The group received their second weekly task - a memory quiz. Former nun Anna - who started the show as a non-smoker - soon took up the habit with smoker Nick.

Andy celebrated his 24th birthday as the housemates decided to strip him naked on the stroke of midnight. The next night all 10 enjoyed a boozy celebration with the highlights including a near snog from Sada and Nichola and the girls dressing the boys in drag.

Sada and Caroline became the first two housemates put up for eviction.

Sada promised she would leave even if the public vote saved her. Speaking in the Diary Room, she stated: "I'm not going to get the money because A, I'm a woman and B, I'm a threat to people here."

Week 3

Andy and Mel's flirting began to annoy Anna and Caroline. "It's either Mel or Andy... there's no room for anybody else," whispered Caroline. Anna agreed. "They're not very engaging," she said.

Andy informed Mel he had a quiet word with Nick a few days ago about his covert tactics to disrupt group dynamics.

Caroline and Andy are nominated - Andy says he would "lose faith in the British nation" if he was voted out. It's not all bad for Andy though after he shared a snog with Mel.

In turn, Caroline confronted Craig about his lazy attitude during a House meeting, but is pretty much alone in her diatribe.

Anna also got stabbed in the back while she slept. Nick stated: "She hasn't put a foot wrong but I think she's dangerous because she's calculating."

Week 4

With former beau Andy departed, Mel soon turned her attention to Tom. Nick's nomination 'manipulation' continued with Tom and Craig, and he soon got Mel in on the act.

Pointing at Mel and Tom he stated: "If you, you, me and Craig voted for Anna it wouldn't matter." Nick was referring to the split in the House, with Caroline, Anna and Nichola on the other side.

Nick revealed a secret stash of cigarettes to ally Tom, while Big Brother warned the housemates that tactical voting will not be tolerated - Tom and Caroline were named as the two to face the public vote.

Nick told Mel and Tom he lied about his secret wife dying in Australia, while Nichola threatened to leave if Caroline was evicted.

Hunky Darren admitted: "I understand women a lot better now," before breaking into a bout of fake tears.

Caroline became the third housemate voted out

Week 5

Nick was sensationally asked to leave the House by Big Brother. After weeks of rule breaking - including talking about nominations - Nick's double-dealing finally came to light during a discussion in the early hours of this morning between the housemates.

Both Darren and Craig claimed Nick had shown them notes, although even having a pencil was against the BB rules.

They subsequently searched Nick's belongings to discover the notes with which Nick had been attempting to sway his companions voting intentions.

And then came the house meeting!

There's a number of people sitting around this table who have come to me," Craig calmly stated, "and basically said that you have shown them a piece of paper with various names on it on a number of occasions."

Sure that his name was on one of the scraps of paper Craig asked, "Will you go and get the pieces of paper?"

"No I'll not do that," Nick insisted with a shrug. "I'll pack my suitcase, simple as that." Darren finally said, "I'm going to get the names now." He walked to the boys' bedroom and returned with Nick's suitcase. Darren found three pieces of paper, each had two names written on them.

They were: Caroline and Mel, Caroline and Nicky, and Craig and Nicky.

The housemates expressed their anger and bemusement, Nick broke down in the bedroom and was asked to leave by Big Brother.

Nichola and Craig were up for eviction.

Nichola became the fourth housemate voted out

Week 6

Nick's departure led to a new housemate entering the proceedings - 25-year-old Claire. A hot tub was installed in the garden and Scouser Craig immediately asked for a steamy round or two beneath the sheets with the Bucks Beauty.

The newcomer revealed she'd had a boob job. "Get them out, then. You can't have spent that much money and not show everyone," was Craig's reaction.

Only Mel and Claire (who had a week's grace) escaped nominations - Anna, Craig, Darren and Tom were all up for eviction.

Craig and Tom suggested killing a chicken for food. "Certainly not, Craig!" snapped Big Brother.

Tom became the fifth housemate voted out

Week 7

The potential romance between Claire and Craig was ruined by their nominations.

The hot-tub was put to good use with a heated kissing game. The rules were simple. One participant dived under water. While holding their breath one of the remaining four slid beneath the surface and kissed them.

"I can't believe I kissed Darren," Craig said in embarrassment the next morning.

Claire became the sixth housemate voted out

Week 8

Mel informed Anna she'd dreamt about being involved in a choreographed orgy. The pair then discussed writing a novel - Mel predicted it would take her four months.

The weekly task involved learning circus acts. While practicing the unicycle, saddle-sore Mel moaned to Anna: "This seat is too uncomfortable."

Mel was nominated for the first time alongside Darren and Craig.

Father-of-three Darren became closer to his favourite part of the House - the chickens. In particular, the one the gang named 'Marjorie'.

"I love birds...I used to wash my budgie once a week in washing-up liquid," Darren admitted to Craig.

Mel became the final housemate voted out

Week 9

As part of a triple-task, Big Brother gives the final three a placebo baby (complete with microchip to make it cry like a real child) to look after. Darren named her 'Juanita'.

Craig found it particularly stressful looking after Juanita, but finally got to grips with the procedure. "She's just had winding, rocking, the nappy change, she was fed in there. Shall I just leave her out here to sleep?" he asked the expert, Darren.

The housemates talked about finally leaving the House. "My kids won't recognise me!" joked Darren.

Anna won the weekly task, and decided on a Spanish-themed party. "Don't forget that I want a donkey filled with sweets," she instructed.

On the final day, the tension was palpable and Darren admitted: "Tonight will be the biggest thing that I have ever done."

Craig won Big Brother with 46% of the votes

Anna came second with 41% of the votes

Darren came third with 13% of the votes
