The Ting Tings
Jules De Martino and Katie White are famous across the entire universe for mega hit 'That's Not My Name' but if you think they're a new band, you'd be wrong. The two have actually been performing together for years having previously been called Dear Eskiimo on a different record label. In fact even before they met Katie had been in a girl group called TKO and toured supporting acts as massive as Steps and Five!
Having had all this experience in the pop and indie scene the two formed the Ting Tings with the basic idea to just do their own thing rather than try and be popstars. Their early gigs were private parties in Manchester's arty building 'The Mill' rather than showcases in London but word soon spread they were an exciting new act. It wasn't long before they got a deal on Columbia Records and released single 'Great DJ' to much critical acclaim. The NME championed them making them one of the coolest acts around, so cool they even got song 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' on an iPod advert.
By the time the Ting Tings released album 'We Started Nothing' in May of this year the whole nation was in a state of frenzy about the pair and 'That's Not My Name' went straight to No.1 in the charts. Then the following week the album went to No.1 too making them about the most popular act of the moment if not the whole flippin' year.
