The Zutons
Fast becoming music veterans, The Zutons brand of psychedelic scally rock arrived at the start of the new century amidst a wave of new Liverpool bands, including The Coral and, er… some others.
Originally a fourpiece, until the guest saxophone solos of drummer Sean's girlfriend Abi proved very popular with the crowd (yes, it was definitely the saxophone solos… no other reason.)
Debut album 'Who Killed...... The Zutons' won them much acclaim for Dave McCabe's knack for bluesy yet catchy melodies and the band's tight, funky delivery.
It's follow-up 'Tired Of Hanging Around' went double platinum and featured the hit single 'Valerie', which went on to rule the airwaves when covered by Mark Ronson by Amy Winehouse. Switch on the radio now, we bet its playing.
Third album, 'You Can Do Anything' has seen the group embrace a glam rock influence, although singer Dave told 4music he was actually trying to sound like Led Zeppelin!
