Reverend and the Makers
Sheffield's Jon McClure began assembling musicians to bring Reverend and The Makers to life, back in 2005. Their music was to be a warped fusion of guitar pop, electronica and the funkier end of Madchester. Their initial demos, posted on the net, featured contributions from Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys, who went on to give the band the helping hand they needed, when they invited them to support their 2006 tour.
Finding themselves in a record label bidding war, McClure turned down offers from major labels and instead signed to independent company Wall of Sound. Their debut single 'Heavyweight Champion Of The World' was released last year and took its title from the book 'A Kestrel for a Knave'. Their album, 'The State Of Things', followed and featured songs co-written and performed with Alex Turner.
