McFly: The Known Facts

NME Advert Considering McFly have spent most of their career wishing they were an NME band, it seems ironic that Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter were recruited by Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher through an advert in the NME.

Back To The Future McFly were named by Tom after the character Marty McFly from eighties sci-fi movie 'Back To The Future'.

5 Colours In her Hair McFly's first hit single was 'Five Colours In Her Hair' which saw the fresh faced four-piece plonk themselves comfortably at Number One in April 2004. They would sit in the same spot seven times before the end of 2007.

Nudity As the four McFly boys grew into young men, they developed an increasing fondness for stripping naked in public. They flashed their flesh for gay magazine 'Attitude' and during a show at London's GAY club. A trend?

Cover Versions Throughout their career McFly have covered songs by The Beatles, Queen, Busted, The Beach Boys, Thin Lizzy, Beastie Boys, John Lennon, Primal Scream and Rihanna. They have also written a lot of their own songs.

Harry Potter A running feud between actor Daniel Radcliff and Dougie after Radcliffe claimed to not be keen on McFly's music. Dougie pointed out that Radcliffe was very young and therefore his opinions were of little value.

Posh Homes McFly live close together in North London, with Danny and Dougie owning flats in the same building with a recording studio in the floor between.

Watch some classic interviews with the boys here and here.
