Kelly Rowland

As a founding member of Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland is practically one of Beyonce's family (her dad and band manager became legal guardian of Kelly when she was just eleven years old). Born Kelendria Trene Rowland, in 1981, she formed her first group, alongside Ms Knowles and, original DC members, LaTavia Roberson and Letoya Luckett, while at school in Houston. The girls called themselves Girls Tyme and rehearsed in Tina Knowles' beauty salon (though judging by the spelling of the band name, they should've been spending more time at school).

As Destiny's Child they conquered the world with hits like 'Say My Name', 'Independent Women Part 1' and 'Survivor', selling millions and generally being 'Bootylicious' (ooh, that was another one).

Kelly's first solo album, entitled 'Simply Deep', was released in October 2002, scoring huge hits with her Grammy-winning duet with Nelly: 'Dilema' and 'stole' (the one with the line about having hands the same size as Marilyn Monroe). She even found time to star in horror film 'Freddy vs. Jason'. Scary. Her second album, 'Ms. Kelly Deluxe' came out early this year and featured the singles: Like This' with rapper Eve and 'Daylight' with that fella from Gym Class Heroes.

Kelly Rowland is a true superstar and we have it on good authority that she's a completely lovely person too. What more could you want?
