Dirty Pretty Things

For many, The Libertines, lead by Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, were the band of their generation. But after the group split in 2004, Barat gathered up two of the severed limbs (in the shape of drummer Gary Powell and guitarist Anthony Rossomando) and nicked Didz Hammond from The Cooper Temple Clause, to form Dirty Pretty Things.

Their first single 'Bang Bang You're Dead' was a Top Five smash for the band and while some claimed the lyrics were about his former bandmate, Barat has denied this, so stop going on about it! They're debut album 'Waterloo To Anywhere' also earned them a Top Five hit, with America's Rolling Stone magazine describing it as "an exceptionally well-crafted punk record".

Even a broken collarbone failed to stop Barat performing with the band and their festival appearances have become legendary. Their fourth album 'Romance At Short Notice' is released this summer, preceded by the single 'Tired Of England' which, despite the title, is a celebration of everything Carl loves about the green and pleasant land.

The band have been known to drop several old Libertines songs into their set. We don't know if they'll do that at T4 on the Beach but you could always try shouting your requests. That won't be annoying at all, will it?
