Black Kids
Black Kids formed in 2006 and hail from Florida, but only began touring at the end of 2007. They're that new! Most of us got to know about them when they did very well in the prestigious Sound of 2008 poll, following which they supported Kate Nash and were very good.
With boundless energy, the girl/boy/girl vocals of Dawn Watley, Reggie and Ali Youngblood (backed by Owen Holmes and Kevin Snow on drums) combine to create a very-now shambolic indie sound, combined with a passionate love of big pop choruses and 70s disco.
Their very first single, the iconically (and epically) titled 'I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You' saw them just miss the Top Ten by one place.
Their debut, 'Partie Traumatic, was produced by former Suede guitarist (and Duffy mentor) Bernard Butler and will be in the shops from July 7 onwards.
