The Automatic

What's that coming over the hill? It's only The Automatic! Yes, the Cardiff quartet are back, Back, BACK with a bang (well, what did you expect?). The David Hasselhoff-loving, GMTV-hating, notoriously riotous foursome have been peddling their second album, 'This Is A Fix', across the land via a series of low key club shows before it is released in August. After a clutch of headline-making appearances at festivals last year (which saw thousands singing along to anthem 'Monster'), the band parted ways with crazy keyboardist Pennie (who wanted to focus on his new punk band). It was perfect timing for the group to hit the studio to work on the follow-up to their acclaimed debut, 'Not Accepted Anywhere'. The first flush of material the foursome came up with was darker and grungier than anything on their debut. This was no doubt influenced by their stint on US metal fest Vans Warped tour. And the band have recruited Paul Mullen formerly of emo-upstarts yourcodenameis:milo as their new rhythm guitarist to give their new stuff a rockier sheen. After leaving their studio in Cardiff to record in LA, the band produced some more pop punk classics to rival the likes of 'Raoul' and 'Recover'. New single 'Steve McQueen' is just that. Expect the unexpected.
