Our resident website's fashion expert Holly from fashion blog Never Love You More brings you weekly advice about how to recreate the look for this week's Frock Me. This time it's Rock and Roll Jeans...
Denim
There are so many ways to wear your denim, whether its shrink wrapped to your legs or barely covering your bum, here are a few trends to be rocking this winter
Rockabilly
The rockabilly look is pretty hot right now, wear your skinny jeans turned up high - the wash isn't so important - rock your jeans with some patent Dr Marten boots. If you are going for an even more authentic look you could don a pair of brothel creepers, those two tone ska shoes with a thick sole, or, for a more feminine version go to Office and bag a super high heeled version that they call the 'pelvis creeper'. So that's your legs done, sling on a Fred Perry style polo shirt and some braces then feminise your look with a bouffant or quiff with a ponytail, hot.com
Lumberjack
The checked shirt is going to be your best friend this winter, whether you wear it with super short denim shorts and some black thick tights or skinny jeans. There is no need to spend a fortune on vintage looking shirts when you can dig through second hand stores and charity shops for some fantastic bargains. The key is the bigger the better, hell, it might not be your staple work shirt but what of it? For a smarter version Matalan and Primark have some great plaid shirts with ruffles which smarten up your average pair of denims. Smarten your look up further with some high peep toe shoes or ankle boots.
Boyfriend jeans
Ever woken up and slung on your boyfriends jeans for breakfast round his mums then decided that they look pretty good and nicked them for slouchy days? That's totally what we're talking about. Boyfriend jeans don't require a shoe-horn and some talcum powder to get your legs in, nope, they are pretty much comfy low slung jeans with a loose fitting bum and baggier leg. Lily Allen champions this look every time she walks to the shop to buy a pint of milk, she looks effortlessly cool and enviably comfortable. Don't slob it totally though, we're not talking wearing your boys rugby shirt collars north, make sure you accessorise with a tight top to show off your figure and ballet shoes for that feminine touch.
Bootcut
The return of the bootcut has been hailed by many as a godsend, they have an instant slimming effect especially for those with a booty as the flare balances it out. Here's a tip, if you hate your thighs then buy jeans that are darker towards the seam and lighter in the middle of the leg to give the illusion of slimmer pins. You know what looks classy as hell with a bootcut jean - a cape, A.P.C, Tommy Hilfiger and Jaeger have both featured capes in their collections for this A/W so get yourself down to the vintage shops and get yourself one before someone else does! Class on a stick.
Aceeed
London is overrun with acid washed denim, you know the one, looks very 80s hair metal. Not got any? Get thyself to American Apparel, their acid washed slim fit jeans are fashion forward and a brave style move. Teamed with a global hypercolour top and sweatband - JOKING. Team your black acid wash jeans with a black body if you have the figure to carry one off, otherwise a dark top and tan Victoriana lace up boots will make sure you get complimented in a crowd. You see that fashion limb? Your pretty much out on it.
