Frock Me is different from any other fashion series out there right now because it is directed at young people, who want to take risks in what they wear, want to know the backgrounds of current trends, are on budgets and are keen to to be resourceful as well as the fact it's just plain and simply a bit more bizarre! For me, the most exciting thing about the series is that I find that there is something very refreshing about taking some of the 'seriousness' out of fashion and digging around for the sheer fun of dressing.
I love, love being a part of the Frock Off, I feel like I really get to know my 'Frockers', I'm naturally nosey, so it works out perfectly that they get to take to some of their favorite spots, I get to meet their friend's or partners (who usually help them out), we laugh a lot and it's very interesting to experience the different vibes and scenes in cities all over the country. It's also great to see different people's interpretations of the different themes. We don't have long at all to put together the outfits, and their not professional designers but they bloomin' well go for it and I love that.
SHOW 1:
I'd never been to Sheffield before, there was a prominent underground music scene and some brilliant shops (I did actually spend quite a bit of my own money up there - off camera). Tom and Becca were hardcore and put everything into the task. Both of their outfits involved a lot of making and sewing, luckily they were pretty well connected and managed to get some very useful help from equally cool and creative chums. When it got round to the day that they had to model them in the studio, Becca was really, really nervous, mainly because I think she was out of her comfort zone, I don't think she'd ever seen herself in so much make-up. It took a while persuading her she looked gorgeous but by the time it got to the catwalking she rocked and Tom, well he was entertainment from start to finish, a postman / rockstar in skin tight tartan always had to win really!
