Marika Beckford is a nineteen-year-old music student from Birmingham, and believes she has the ability to be successful in the music industry. Marika was eager for the opportunity to go to America and be mentored by successful Mathew Knowles and other music industry successors. Marika has been singing since she could talk and since then developed her passion through singing in the school choir, and church, she started writing her own material at the age of twelve and often uses her keyboard skill to structure her melodies she creates. Marika became Champion the under 18’s 2004 ‘Gifted Talent Showcase’ in her hometown Birmingham. From this she got representation and the opportunity to perform live shows with lots of positive feedback. Marika has her own unique style, and is inspired from all genres of music, which has contributed to her talent. In her own words Marika wants “one day to be a successful influential figure in the industry”


She has an eclectic taste ranging from R&B to Rock, Pop to hip-hop. Outside of her music Marika enjoys reading, writing songs, dancing and all the other forms of performance art. Although when asked to describe herself she announced her weaknesses are her doubts and sometimes lacks in confidence, despite that she goes on to say she’s an organised, passionate, determined, quiet yet sometimes loud and very dedicated individual.
