Joshua Newell also know as Lyracis is twenty-three, one of the older Chancers, he wanted to be a Chancer as he felt that he could bring something new to the table and show the world what UK. He says his magnetic personality and the way he writes his songs makes him stand out from the rest. Musical genes run in the Newell family as Lyracis’s father used to be a local DJ and his sister used to rap. His musical inspirations are Eminem and So Solid and he has supported Neyo, Chris Brown, Donnell Jones and the Game amongst others while they were on tour. He describes his musical style as Melodic. Pharell meets Kanye West meets T.I.

Lyracis says his strengths are his personality, he gets along with anyone and everyone, is good at talking and using his mouth to get him places and is very inquisitive. When asked about his weaknesses he said he none that he can think of!


Lyracis’s favourite item of clothing is a T-Shirt which says ‘I am the British dream’ on the front and ‘Lyracis the UK’s finest’ on the back. Away from the music Lyracis plays and supports football, he used to play for Tottenham under 15’s as a striker before injury cut his career short. He loves to travel and to see different places and cultures.
