The Management

The band manager

Simon Bobbett became The Wombats' band manager after meeting them at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he was studying band management. After hearing early demos of their hit 'Moving to New York' he felt they would be a great success. Dan Haggis, The Wombats' drummer admits that Simon has "played a very large part in our lives" and that the band wouldn't be what they are without him.

Simon's top tips for making it as a band manager include the ability to think on your feet under pressure and make important decisions both for the band and with the band. The ability to co-ordinate both the band and the team wherever they are is vital and being able to speak the local lingo on tour is a great advantage.

The tour manager

Twenty-two-year-old Sarah Moir is The Wombats' tour manager. The principal role of the tour manager is to ensure that the tour goes smoothly and that everything happens when it is meant to happen.

The biggest challenge says Sarah is to "balance keeping the tour going and the band" as tours can often be draining, stressful and non-stop. However, despite the hard work, the role of a tour manager includes extensive travel and the opportunity to experience culture from around the world. The thrill of seeing the band on stage throughout the world once all the hard work is done is "incredibly rewarding".
