10. Simon Snowglobe
An early predecessor of the likes of Hamster Ball, this is a none-too-taxing "Marble Madness"
dexterity-test, where a tiny Simon/Santa character rolls around collecting
presents against the clock. It's a bit hit and miss in places (there's a
reason it's number 10 in this chart), but the graphics are cute and you may
even enjoy the singing-chipmunks version of Paul McCartney's "Simply Having
A Wonderful Christmas Time".

9. Sabrina In [The] North Pole
It's not Sabrina The Teenage Witch, but there's certainly a few supernatural goings-on in this snowy Samorost-style point-and-click puzzler (which, just for
the record, looks absolutely nothing like the North Pole). There are plenty
of tips in our forum if you don't find the poorly-translated instructions
much help ("Now [Sabrina's] middle of nowhere, she don't know that area"),
plus a link to the - much easier - prequel if you'd rather try that instead.

8. Chill Out
An inexplicably popular penguin-based platformer, submitted to the chart
with the short-but-sweet summary: "You play as a penguin. You have to
collect fish. But watch out for pants and bees". It's not the most
cleverly-constructed game in the world - heck, it's not even one of the
best ones featuring penguins - but it's nice and easy for beginners and
even has some special Christmas-themed bonus levels.

7. Snow Storm
You might be "dreaming" of a "White Christmas", but that dream can also
turn into a nightmare - if your job happens to be clearing snowdrifts from
car-parks, that is. Here you drive your snowplough between cars and other
obstacles to clear a big enough area to drink your end-of-level cup of tea
- though, of course, snowploughs can only push snow around, not pull it, transforming this into a wintery version of Japanese warehouse crate-shifter "Sokoban".

6. Snowy
It doesn't seem to be winter in this one, but at last we're at
the first of several games that actually involves throwing snowballs. The
aptly named Snowy, you see, is a bear, taking on a bunch of "strange
monsters" who've invaded his platformy world, and the way he
does that is by chucking snow at them until they're round enough to roll
away into oblivion. You get tons of lives and a few powerups - a bit of music's the only obvious thing that's missing.
