Entries

Subject to the terms and conditions set out below, Channel 4 invites individual writers or teams of writers to submit:

(a) 3 minutes worth of material for a comic topical monologue;
(b) 3 sketches for a non-topical comedy programme (sketches of no more than three minutes each in length)

Mark entries "Channel 4 Comedy Writing Initiative" and post them to 124 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 2TX or e-mail newcomedywriters@channel4.co.uk. Please include your name, address and all contact details in your entry.

This is an opportunity for writers who are not established in the field of writing for television, but if you have done the odd thing in the past do let us know and include an account of your work with your entry.

Entries may be submitted at any time from 16th May 2005 and must be received on or before 15th July 2005. A shortlist of entries chosen by Channel 4 commissioners will be reviewed by a panel of comedians, writers and producers in order to select a winner of the Channel 4 Comedy Writing Initiative. The winner will be contacted by Channel 4 during the week of 15th August 2005 and there will be a public announcement at a special event to be held at the Edinburgh Television Festival.

Channel 4 will, over a 12 month period, provide that the winner is given the opportunity to receive writing commissions from production companies for Channel 4 television projects up to a minimum total value of £20,000 (exclusive VAT).

Terms and Conditions

1. These terms and conditions apply to any entry submitted in connection with the Channel 4 Comedy Writing Initiative (the "Competition") and are the Competition rules ("Rules"), which will also be posted on www.channel4.com/newcomedywriters (if you visit this site then the Rules will also incorporate the Channel4.com Terms and Conditions). 2. The Competition is organised by Channel Four Television Corporation of 124 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 2TX ("Channel 4").
