Leading West End producer Sonia Friedman will produce the winning play.
Sonia has a prolific record of producing West End hits – to date she has produced over 55 new productions in London - often involving some of the biggest star names.
Her many credits include:
- Beckett's Endgame starring Michael Gambon and Lee Evans;
- Afterplay by Brian Friel starring John Hurt;
- Jumpers by Tom Stoppard;
- Hitchcock Blonde by Terry Johnson;
- Up For Grabs starring Madonna;
- David Mamet's Sexual Perversity In Chicago starring Matthew Perry and Minnie Driver;
- Peter Nichols' classic play A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg starring Eddie Izzard and Clive Owen;
- Michael Frayn's comedy Noises Off;
- On An Average Day starring Woody Harrelson;
- Macbeth starring Sean Bean;
- Pirandello's Absolutely! (Perhaps) directed by Franco Zeffirelli;
- Port Authority by Conor McPherson;
- and Brian Clark's Whose Life Is It Anyway? starring Kim Cattrall, directed by Sir Peter Hall.
Currently in the West End she is producing the hit West End musical The Woman In White (by Andrew Lloyd Webber) and in early summer, unveils a new production of As You Like It with Sienna Miller in her West End debut, and a new play by Brian Friel, The Home Place.
Sonia has a long track record with new writers, and a reputation for taking risks on new work in the West End. During her long association with Out of Joint, Britain's most successful new writing touring company, which she co-founded with Max Stafford Clark, she produced new plays by, amongst others, Caryl Churchill, Sebastian Barry, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Sue Townsend, April de Angelis and Mark Ravenhill.
Sonia also launched the West End's New Ambassadors Theatre, where she was Artistic Programmer up until last year.
