John Lynch

John Lynch as Paul Gauguin
John Lynch as Paul Gauguin
John Lynch could be forgiven for being a little confused. He's an Irishman playing a Frenchman living with a Dutchman in an English production, and he's talking about it in America, where he is finishing his second novel.

The production in question is a feature-length drama, The Yellow House. Lynch plays Paul Gauguin, the brilliant French post-impressionist, opposite John Simm who plays the mercurial genius Van Gogh. The action is set in the few weeks that the pair lived together in the eponymous Yellow House in Arles; a period that changed not just their lives, but the course of art history.

Here, Lynch talks about acting with some of the biggest stars in the world, why Gauguin appealed to him so much, and what it's like to be a woman's worst nightmare.
