Alice Fulton - Warm Reflections from the Afternoon Sun

Alice Fulton

Warm Reflections from the Afternoon Sun

63 x 63cm

I think that the weather plays such an important role on people's feelings and how they view places. I believe that colour does exactly the same. Last week, when I painted this, it was beautiful weather, with definite signs of summer on the way. Beech trees, bushes, roof tops and the school, Fettes, in the distance, were lit up by the sun. This is how I wanted to create the picture, using colour to its advantage, to fit in with the sunny day. My love for colour, with the bonus of good weather, emphasises enjoyment that I got from painting the view from my bedroom window.
