Turner Prize 2003
Introduction

The Turner Prize, sponsored by Channel 4, is the award that put British art on the map. The prize, worth £20,000, is given to a British artist under 50 for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of work in the past 12 months. And this year the prize is 20 years old. Sensational art, fizzing column inches and partying arterati are guaranteed.

This year's winner is Grayson Perry. Find out more about his work on this site. There's also information about the other shortlisted artists.

Find out who you voted for as your all-time greatest Turner Prize artist in the People's Poll, test your knowledge in the Big T quiz, and find out what washing machines and dead animals have to do with 20 years of the Turner Prize.
