Welcome to The Turner Prize 2006
LATEST – congratulations to Tomma Abts who won this year's Turner Prize.More than just an awards show, this year's coverage of the world famous annual prize for contemporary art promises to be that little bit different.
This year's Turner Prize culminates in a live broadcast from Tate Britain presented by Matt Collings where the winner of the coveted prize will be announced by Culture Minister David Lammy. The winner will receive £25,000 and each short-listed artist will receive £5,000.
In keeping with the Turner Prize's founding principle – to promote discussion about contemporary art – a new TV programme has been developed by Channel 4 and Tate called The Turner Prize Challenge, where four shortlisted candidates will each present the work of one of the four Turner Prize artists as part of the half hour programme.
This website has information to help you put yourself in the judges' position. So take a look around and say what you think in the online discussions, check out all the previous winners of The Turner Prize, vote for your favourite artist and play our art quiz.
