Welcome to The Turner Prize 2005
More than just an awards show, this year's coverage of the world famous annual prize for contemporary art promises to be that little bit different.
LATEST - congratulations to Simon
Starling who won last night's Turner Prize. To read our interview with
him, click

For the first time, each of this year's four shortlisted artists - Jim
Lambie, Gillian Carnegie, Simon
Starling and Darren Almond - is shadowed by a young art student currently studying at the same art school they each attended before graduating. The results of their time spent with each allotted artist, as student and nominee alike discuss the selected shortlisted pieces, are shown in this new-look Turner prize coverage. In doing so, the young art students take
you through the process of preparing for the much-desired contemporary
art prize, and reach personal and unguarded conclusions about the artistic
achievements they hope one day to emulate.
This year's Turner Prize culminates in a live broadcast
from Tate Britain presented by Matt Collings where the winner of the
coveted prize will be announced by Culture Minister David Lammy. The
winner will receive £25,000 and each short-listed artist will
receive £5,000.
On top of all that, the students get a top night out!
