How do I submit my comment?

After you've recorded a video comment and are happy with it (see the guide on the right), save it on your computer. Then go to our submissions page. A form will then appear asking you for the following:

What is your comment about? - what programmes made you angry? Or is it an advert? Or maybe it's about TV in general.

If it's about a programme, then what channel was it on and when. If you can't remember then what was the programme about - this will help us to match your comment with a programme.

Your Name - so we can put a name to your comment.

Your telephone number and email address - we need this to make sure that you really are who you say you are. And we might need to get in touch with you later on about points that you have made.

Your town - so we can say "John Smith, Southport says..."

Your comment - tell us what you want to say - this will help us to identify all those comments about a similar subject or programme.

And finally...

Read our release form (shown on the right of the submissions form), and if you are happy with it, put a tick in the checkbox. If you don't like the release form and don't want to agree to it then, unfortunately, we cannot accept or publish your comment on ThinkTV for legal reasons. If you haven't agreed to our release form you will not be able to proceed any further.

Once you've completed our form and pressed the Submit Your Comment button, you will be asked to find your video comment (if you are including one) and either upload it to our server or attach it to an email. If you are making an text comment just fill in the comment box and click the Submit Your Comment button. Once this is done we will email you telling you we've received your comment.

Finally, we will review your comment to see whether or not we can publish it on ThinkTV. Things like you libelling someone, including background music, we can't hear what you are saying or just swearing like it's going out of fashion will mean that we cannot put your comment on the site. Sorry, but we have to keep it legal. We may contact you if there are problems so that you can make your comment again.

What will it look like?

If everything is OK, we will put your comment up on the site as soon as possible. If you've sent in a video comment, you will see something like this appear:

Watch video
Darts (BBC1 & 2) - best sport on TV?
Archive comment - 11:59 Thu Jan 11

Some people get really depressed at this time of year with it being January and all. But not me, because the darts are on - you'd have to go a long way to find a more nailbiting and riveting sport. You may laugh, but just watch it and I can guarantee within seconds you'll be completely engrossed. It's one of the only sports where the crowd seems to be having as good a time as the players, and also, in what other arena of modern life is the mullet haircut so prevalent?

For email comments, you will see your comment with your name and town below it.

Thanks to everyone who gets in touch with us. We're really grateful. All comments are read and considered and, hopefully, featured on ThinkTV. DO send them in though - many comments and complaints about TV would never be heard if people didn't send them in... so please keep them coming!

Recording A Video Comment
(This guide is intended for the QuickCam webcams installed at the learning centres in Liverpool, but may contain handy tips for those using other systems!)

Launch The Quickcam Software
Click the Quickcam Icon on the desktop, or click Start, then Programs, then Logitech Quickcam and finally Launch Logitech Quickam.

The Quickcam window will then open.
Set Up The Camera
Position the camera so that your head is close to the top of the video window and you are in the centre of the picture.

Make sure you are in focus; the green ring on the outside of the camera lens is for focussing. Gently rotate the ring clockwise and anti clockwise until your image is sharp.

Set Video Size
Underneath the live video image is a drop down menu with the size of video you are going to record. This should be set to 160 x 120. If it isn't, click the arrow to the right and set it to 160 x 120.

Use the headset microphone provided, don't have it too close to you mouth andclearly in your normal voice while recording.

Recording
Before you record - briefly practice what you are going to say.

Try and keep your video between 30 seconds and 1 minute in length, as anything longer will generate a file too large to send to us.

Click on Record Video and say your piece.

When you have finished click on Stop Recording. Your captured file will now appear in the right hand window, which is called Gallery - Pictures and Videos. It will automatically open in it's own window and play back.

Saving
If you are happy click File then Save As and give the file a name.
