Ramallah Daily
Cutting edge TV or just another distorted view of the world?

Having read some existing comments on this programme asking why more questions are not posed, I have to say I felt the lack of obvious questioning by the film makers was one of the documentary's strengths. Simply in asking a question you frame a debate in your own terms. By apparently allowing those on camera to speak for themselves, the programme makers effectively remove a knowledge barrier between viewer and subject. Excellent.

I think Ramallah Daily is far too short and doesn't give a proper view and it is completely biased. Is does not show any information about Israelis, your program does not give a balanced view. Please in future give a view of both sides.

Why does such a useful and fascinating subject have to be restricted to a 5 minute time slot? Surely a minimum of 15 minutes (preferably longer) would provide a more useful format and enable the program to become more than just another soundbyte.
I hope that as the series develops it will be seen to provide a balanced view from all sides.

Misleading press release regarding this programme. "The lives of Palestinians and Israelis ...". So far I have heard a great deal of Palestinian comment on the hardship they endure under Israeli occupation ... but NO ISRAELI comment whatsoever regarding the tension that they endure under the threat of suicide bombings inter alia. Just another opportunity for Israel bashing by the UK media. I am unimpressed by Channel 4's total lack of regard for that most sacred of broadcasting values "IMPARTIALITY". What will you be doing to redress the balance ... and WHEN?

This program is Amazing! Poetic television! It's unbaised and the reporter and/or the program does not ask any hard question, but allows the viewer to ask themselves the hard questions faced by a helpless people under occupation for more than half a century. Let the viewers decide who's the agressor and who's the victim. I look forward to more excellent report like Ramallah Daily. Thank you Channel 4.

It is certainly time that we were shown what is going on in Palestine/Israel, but Ramallah Daily was too short to convey what is happening, to anyone who has no knowledge of the situation. There was no time for questions to be asked, let alone answered eg. What were the men in prison for, how long had they been there and why were some women not allowed a permit to visit?

I much value the opportunity to see the daily experience of those who are most affected by the political decisions and ambitions of others. It brings a note of realism and actuality to counter the failure of politicians to act fairly and openly. I shall look for the further programmes with hope and expectation.

Your series on Ramallah seems to be a relatively fair portrail of the life of Palestinians in the city. However it ignores the Israeli side entirely. Perhaps to equalise the balance you should mention the number of attacks or attempted attacks on Israelis that occured on each day.

As mentioned before, I was expecting a non-biased representation. The summary of the programme is misleading and perhaps Channel 4 should consider re-wording it. Alternatively, adapting the programme for a true report of the situation on both Israeli and Palestinian perspectives both in Ramallah and Israeli inhabited regions.

There is a lot of focus on the Palestinians who are caught in the same war zone as Israelis. I think it is important that Channel 4 also focuses on what life is like for Israelis who are frightened of the pending war in Iraq and its potential consequences for people in Israel. These are the same people who cannot eat or drink in restaurants without it becoming a life or death decision and furthermore are have to make the same decision when boarding a bus.
