While the eyes of the world are fixed on Iraq, the West Bank
and Gaza remain the real core of instability in the Middle East,
and are the places where the consequences of an Iraqi war will
first emerge. Filmed on the day of broadcast, for the next month
Ramallah Daily will tell the stories of Palestinians and Israelis
negotiating the physical and political borders that dominate
their lives, and feeling the first repercussions of the latest
blow to peace in the Middle East.

Tonights first in the series of Ramallah Daily did not start
off too biased. I look forward to seeing a balanced view of
what life is like there and perhaps a look at another city int
he region - Tel Aviv for example to balance it out.

Congratulations on showing Ramallah TV. It was what Channel
4 should be about: programmes which challenge the viewer by
showing what happens behind the scenes. I think broadcasting
it as this time is particularly important, because the British
public is so badly informed about what is going on in the Middle
East.

I fail to see the point behind this programne. At 5 minutes
long we can hardly get to know any background and if I didn't
know more, from tonights episode I would have thought Ramallah
was about to go to war with America. A waste of time.

Thank you for allowing us to see more sides of the argument
in this Iraq debate. We are not seeing enough images of the
life of normal Iraqi 's rather than just Saddam, so we can contemplate
the reality of war on this innocent country ( after all the
Leader is in breach of Resolutions not its people)
Thankyou channel 4 for doing your bit in preventing our news
from being as one dimentional as the American media seems to
be.

The programme showed only a Palestinian and not an Israeli point
of view as promised in the summary.

I was relieved to see "Ramallah Daily" after the excellent
Channel 4 News this evening. I dont think that the main media
in our country comes anywhere close to conveying to our population
the things that happen in the Palestian territories, the apalling
human rights abuses that the people of the palestinian territories
endure, neither is the history that lies behind the present
conflict in Israel?Palestine explained fully , I believe for
example that a large prcentage of the British people think that
it is the Palestinians that are in occupation of Israeli territories
rather than the other way around.
I am a white, rural, middle class woman, by chance I have become
aware of what is going on in Israel/Palestine and so I try to
keep up with developments there, but I do this by my own researches
and I dont think I would understand the Palestinian position
very well if I was to rely on what is available on the main
stream media.....so it is brave of you to take this step. Probably
not very many people will stay to see this little slot after
the news....but I believe that if more people did see and so
come to understand the truth better, then perhaps enough public
pressure could be applied to our govenments that the Palestinian
people would be given justice, and consequently the Israeli
people might feel less threatened.
Thankyou for attempting to educate us.

Although this programme seems like a non-biased piece of documentry
footage. So far, to me, it is largely weighted and doesnt delve
into reasons for situations that the interviewed are in, in
fact there hasnt even been a hint of a balance or real reason.
Fair enough to say no ambulances are allowed to pass, why is
this? Lets now go deeper please. What do the public think of
war, in depth? What do they think of terrorism? what are their
views on saddam and his regime? I think these above points are
very relevent ones in the current situation. What are their
views on peace? How do they think peace can be achieved? Who
or what is standing in the way of peace? How much is peace worth?
What benefits or losses are the Palestinian or Israeli people
facing due to Palestinian terrorists? What benifits or losses
are the Palestinian or Israeli people faceing due to Israeli
occupation of the 'West Bank'? Maybe as well, what has the war
on Iraq really got to do with the Palestinians? (I am a hostile
environment journalist who has much experience of the area.
These are the questions I would be interested in and have been
asked about by others).

Thank you so much for the series Ramallah Daily. It is the duty
of all responsible media outlets to show what is happening behind
the scenes. This series helps to show people that the Palestinian
people are human beings just like you and me. Too often people
only hear about Palestinians in the context of politics or even
worse 'terrorism'.

I am hoping that this series will be balanced and show both
sides. Although the written introduction to the program shown
on this site says "Palestinians and Israelis negotiating
the physical and political borders that dominate their lives"....I
am not sure how many Israelis will be seen around Ramallah!!!!
