Channel Four's Chief Executive states he has made a firm commitment
to Brookside. If this is so, why is Brookside & it's viewers
treated like the "poor relations" & moved about
to suit the other (obviously more important) programmes? Of
course viewing figures are falling, we never know when it is
going to on next! Brookside is an excellent drama & should
be treated with more respect.

Please can you advise why Brookside Omnibus has been pushed
aside for a movie?? (Tora Tora Tora) I understand when the cricket
is on you may need to move it, but a MOVIE? so who is at home
on a Tuesday lunchtime to see the omnibus? I was away this week
and was looking forward to my usual 1700 omnibus today, now
I will have to set the vcr and find time to watch it later.

I am dissapointed once again that the Brookside Omnibus has
been taken off this Saturday 17th August. I can understand it
being replaced by LIVE cricket, but not for some film which
has probably been on loads of times and could be shown at any
time. I am starting to get really fed up with Channel 4 doing
this, as the other channels don't do this with their soaps.
Sort it Out!!!!!! Now!!!!!!

Just to comment on the continued changing of times for Brookside.
As I am a busy working mum Saturday evening is my time for
relaxing to watch my favourite programme, Iunderstand it as
to make the occasional time change but really did it have
to be for a film that has been on tv many times before. Also
just as the story was getting really interesteing I forgot
to set my vcr (whilst i understand this was not your fault)
it was an important day for me as my daughter was starting
school. Lastly i would be very grateful if you could send
me a copy of the omnibus edition which was shown on Tuesday
20th august 02(and not 17th)as normally would have been. I
would be more than willing to pay for any costs for you to
do this. A very upset brookside fan.
THINKTV have checked and unfortunately one off video
copies are not available.

Tonight I read in my local evening news paper that Phil Redmond
has no intentions to cut the caretaker/Marty Murray/Imelda Clough
storyline. I was appalled to read this after the murders of
Jessica and Holly. Does Phil Redmond have no respect for the
families off the girls? Iimagine their horror and upset knowing
this storyline is still being broadcast. I think the whole nation
would be thinking this who were touched by the tragady of the
girls murder, myself, my friends, my work colleagues and neighbours
all have said they will no longer watch Brookside if this storyline
was to continue. So please Mr Redmond have some respect, cut
the storyline out you would get more respect from your viewers
if you did.

Why on earth has Channel 4 taken the decision to leave in a
segment depicting a caretaker suspected of child murder in Brookside?
I am astounded at this apparent insensitivity to the feelings
of the parents of Holly and Jessica and the nation at large.

Since its inception, Brookside has had a reputation
for tackling a diverse range of social issues and has redefined
the soap genre by frequently focusing on difficult subjects.
Its current, long-running storyline about bullying at school
is no exception.
There are some comparisons that could be drawn between aspects
of real-life news stories and some details of the current
Brookside plot, which deals with the aftermath of the bullying
storyline. These are entirely coincidental, and regular viewers
will already be aware of the true fate of Imelda which was
revealed some months ago.
While there are no plans to alter the plot, in the light
of current events the channel is, of course, looking carefully
at each script to ensure that each episode is sensitively
edited.
