Edge of the Universe
Why is it on so late?

Why is it on so late?

I accidentally switched on to a superb programme of yours last night at 5am - 'The Edge of the Universe' with John Hurt narrating. Although I had no intention of being awake at 5am, the programme was so good that I watched it until the end despite dreading having to get up the following morning. Most of the stuff you have been transmitting of late in prime time I have to say is intensely uninspiring so my question is as follows:- Why, when TV appears to be crying out for something genuinely interesting entertaining can we not have a bit more of this type of programme in prime time rather than such rubbish as the Simpson's (an instant channel hopping primer), Reality TV and other such . The average guy (or girl) down the pub would love to see something a little different and thrilling on TV. This sort of programe IS thrilling because it represents THE BEST OF WHAT WE CAN DO and it is a tonic to many programmes which seem to promote the worst and the most basic human behaviour. Not only that but there is now an entire generation of people who have grwon up expecting and wanting to see this type of thing. So why screen it at 4:30am and put cartoons on in prime time?!!! (Madness). PS:- The European Space station is being built at this very moment and there are Shuttle missions every month at least (I think as we never see or hear anything about it) to construct it. I would have thought even with a limited budget one could make an excellent programme out of that or even just put in a slot reporting on it once in a while. Go on channel four, break the 'dumb' mould, make a name for yourself.
