The documentary was very incisive, as always your channel provides
a balanced viewpoint and understands the 'global' perspective.
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and the use of authoritative
commentary from eminent personalities and leading political
leaders. Just what we like.

I think this was a biased, one sided film and a disgrace to
the term journalism. It was trial by TV of the worst type. I
am no supporter of Mr. Blair or the Labour party but this was
totally unacceptable.
No matter what anti war protestors think the majority of people
in this country were in agreement with Mr. Blair, a fact which
seemed to escape your film makers.

I have just watched the Blair Gamble programme, and listened
to its concluding comments, I quote " Blair gambled and
lost". With the facts available to us, and the facts
in the propgram, I find it amazing that your programme maker
can come to this conclusion. I have no allegiance to Mr Blair,
and am just a member of the public. But I find it incredible
that your programme could reach such a conclusion. To me,
Mr Blair has shown great leadership, and courage, and it seems
to me that given time this will be seen. How did your people
come to this conclusion? From watching the programme it seems
to me that they must have been were biased against Mr Blair
before they made the programme, and therefore this must raise
issues of their "impartial" brodcasting.

An excellent, excellent programme. British documentary at its
best.It shows that there is still real democracy, free speech
here, and that the jigsaw puzzle of Iraq has been lucidly laid
bare. Its the picture most of the discerning public realised.
I am glad that Channel 4 nailed the truth in this sea of deceptions.

Your program 'Blairs Gamble' as so full of political bias that
it should have been prefaced with 'a political broadcast on
behalf of the opposition' message. It was an insult to our troops
who gave their lives for a greater good. Surely a TV journalist
should put both sides of the argument instead of only the anti-war
propaganda. I'm sure Saddam would call that fair and balanced
TV.

The program was well constructed and factually impartial - up
to the last 1 minute. Here, the producers unfortunately could
not resist the temptation to insert their own comment and completely
destroyed the credibility of themselves and the reat of an otherwise
highly mature and informative program. I think that history
will show that Blair's Gamble HAS paid off. Blair is playing
the long game. the US is a dominant player on the world stage
for the next 30 years at least. The French will rue the day
they snubbed the US whilst the UK will continue to remain a
vital link between the US and other European powers. Blair has
ensured this perhaps not for duration of his own permiership
but for many yet to come.

Yet again Jacques Chirac was misquoted. The 'ce soir' (this
evening) was omitted. Although this might appear trivial, it
alters the entire meaning of what was said.

I don't know about it being the "best" from of TV
journalism, but I do think that it, andother Channel 4 contributions,
are a reassuring form of journalism. sometimes one feels that
the world has gone mad and to see that intelligent and informed
people have something useful to say is comforting - even if
it only confirms that the world is indeed going rapidly mad!
I was impressed that you stayed off the oil issue whilst focussing
on Blair's actions. Oil is undoubtedly the issue or we would
soon see other despots (rather than just other critics of USA
actions) targetted. However it was good to see the problems,
intentions and vanities of Tony Blair analysed and displaid.
Many thanks and keep it up for as long as you can before the
powers that be close yoiu down by hindering support and advertising
revenue. Channel 4 has taken over from the BBC as the voice
of truth and reason in a corrupt world.

This was definitely NOT TV journalism at its best!
I welcome the in depth discussion of issues and recognise that
there is not enough of it these days...to that extent well done
and let's have more of this!
However, what irks me more than anything else is a journalist
view that pretends to be in depth and even-handed but is really
polemic in its intent. The basic premise was that Blair pursued
the attack on Iraq despite the massive opposition of the British
people and parliament and that it was a "failure".
I disagree that it was done against overwhelming opposition
(in fact a majority of MPs supported it, even is some labour
MPs voted against - it is a red herring to imply that they were
somehow unfairly "influenced" - surely these guys
are mature enough to consider arguments from all sides and make
their own decisions in the light of all the facts!). I disagree
that it was a failure for the Iraqi people - the commentary
suggests that the future is bleak for the Iraqi people - I would
suggest the future is tough but is less bleak that it has been
for 30 years! You suggest that it is a failure of diplomacy
- in fact the big losers are the Germans and the French (this
is an opinion but was not talked about, but should have been
in a more balanced documentary). It is not a failure in the
central intent of Blair and Bush...the big success is in the
step forward in reducing the terrorist threat to the Western
way of life, which reached a peak after Sept 11. It has sent
a major signal to rogue states and would-be terrorists that
any attempts to destabilise the Western way of life or threaten
oil supplies (even more fundamental to the workings of capitalism
- by the way capitalism is not a dirty word, nor is a desire
to protect and guarantee oil supplies!) will be met with serious
opposition and not weakness or prevarication. Remember that
Middle Eastern opinion was overwhelmingly in support of these
actions and the only major dissent comes from governments that
are despotic in nature or from people within those countries
who have either been brainwashed by the despots or cowed into
submission. There can be no doubt (in my opinion) that a majority
of Iraqis would now vote in favour of their liberation...any
such vote three months ago would have yielded different results!
Finally, the failure of Blair in moving towards a solution to
the Palestinian/Israeli dispute is yet to be proven...he has
definitely achieved more that the EU would have through his
influence on Bush. I support Blair and believe that his role
in this whole endeavour should be seen as "successful"
rather than a failure - the world is definitely a safer place
that it was before, but this is not the end of the road - there
are a lot more threats to be met and I trust Blair/Bush more
than I do the EU to represent my interests. This is polemical
but so was your documentary!

I have just viewed the Blairs Gamble and I was amazed by the
biased report that ran througout this programme. You ask is
this good reporting..I want to hear both sides of the story
not a succession of interviews against The Prime Minister. I
feel you have totally misrepresented the reaction here in the
UK. I do not normally enter into correspondence with the media
but I could not let this pass without registering my dismay
on this report.
