The Amazing Story of Jeremy Bamber
Was this a balanced programme or just more tabloid TV?

I have just watched the documentary about Jeremy Bamber and wonder why it wasn't postponed until the "evidence", that he has discovered in the last two weeks, which he mentioned is going to prove something or other, is available. All that this programme did was reiterate already known facts and left me wondering why the programme makers bothered to make it at all. We all know it was either him or his sister who did this terrible thing, but after an hour I'm still no wiser; nor did I learn anything I didn't know an hour ago. I generally love these sort of programmes, which go over old and sometimes long forgotten crimes, and come up with a conclusive argument for or against the guilt of the convicted. DNA testing has been a "tool" which must frighten some people who committed murders thirty years ago and thought that they had long got away with their evil deeds and it's refreshing to see some of them get their come-uppance after decades of "getting away with it". This programme neither proved nor disproved his innocence or guilt. Is Jeremy Bamber II, the sequel, being planned and, if not, why not?

5 minutes of fact stretched out over an hour. I really wanted to watch a programme prepared to look under every stone and investigate all the evidence. Balanced? A pub landlord who said Bamber was OK and a part-time prison teacher who said he was evil personified. Poor. More time and money was put into the reconstructions than the content, which simply glossed over the case details. Superficial and dissappointing. Good music though (but that's about it).

I thought the programme on Jeremy Bamber was a very balance documentary. It explained in detail why he was arrested and convicted. It also went into the reasons why his appeals have been denied. It was done in a very factual way and in my opinion was unbiased or tabloid sensationalism. Well done.
