American TV
Love them or hate them, American series are big on British TV

Why does Britain have a fixation with American TV?
Especially American programmes about law/violence/'cops' etc.. We're
20 miles from Europe and 3,000+ miles from the US. Is it simply that
they're cheap? So in order to fill the 24 hours schedule we buy their
rubbish? I don't mind having the best of their TV - but we don't get
the best of South African TV, or Indian TV, or Dutch TV - so why take
the crap from the USA? Culturally speaking, the US is both a bad influence
and a 'dictator'.. come on, let's have less of it!
The Sopranos
Why cant we produce drama like The Sopranos? A rhetorical question
so I will answer, because we haven't got the actors that could act
in such a natural way. It's exactly the same when we have kids drama
and they have young actors. The Yanks just blow us away.

In answer to 'why can't Britain do stuff like the Sopranos'...Britain
does, and even though I don't like it, Eastenders is our Sopranos,
the acting is just as natural because the actors have been doing it
for so long they're not really acting anymore. It's just that the
US film it on better equipment so it doesn't look as grey.
