I would like to congractulate you on an excellent, non biased
tv show, regarding Islam. As a Muslim male, I learnt a great
deal from you programme named 'unveiling Islam'. It was throughly
educational, and interesting. I would like to highly compliment
your reporter, Samira Ahmed on the very well presented documentry.
I would have loved it if you could have aired the programme
a little earlier in the evening, but I am not complaining. Again
I thank you very much on behalf of all the Muslims for presenting
a beautiful, very educational, programme. and most importantly
providing a true picture of Islam, and not an act of propoganda
against Islam, liken every other TV station is doing. Today,
after watching the documentry Ifeel proud to be a viewer of
Channel 4. Thank you Channel 4, and congractulations again on
a great production, and a superb journalist, Samera Ahmed.

Why on earth broadcast such an excellent and important programme
so late. I watched last night but guess what am too knackered
to wait up tonight and I don't have a video. This is exactly
the kind of dialogue/understanding we need. Im kind of a WASP,
I am generally very open to other religions and cultures but
very nervous about (and quite ignorant) about Islam. Quite apart
from the cultural value was the amazing vibrance of th reporting,
Samira Ahmed was fantastic. Back to the cultural level, as a
middle class professional I found it very easy to relate to
Samira Ahmed, I never realised she was Muslim and somehow it
gave me a brilliant way in and I am deeply frustrated at the
timing which prevents me seeing the second programme. On another
level as a teacher I would think this could make for a fascinating
video around which to base discussion with older secondary pupils...but
of course teachers in work will nevr be able to stay up that
late or put the video on....or indeed just watch and shift their
own prejudices. The more I think about it, the more frustrated
I feel that a programme of such a) excellence and b) importance
should be screened so late just makes me wild!

Whose bright idea was it to schedule Islam Unveiled on Channel
4 in the middle of the night almost in secrecy? I only heard
about it when Samira Ahmed briefly mentioned it at the end of
the news bulletin a few hours ahead of part one. This was too
late to get home and set the VCR. I managed to tape part two
which was excellent and I'd like to see what I missed. This
is definitely worth a primetime slot so how about Channel 4
scheduling a repeat at a sensible and fair time so lots of people
can see it and advertise it this time instead of burying it?
