Maud was commissioned by Channel 4 to develop an online radio drama writing project to augment the TV series, The Play’s The Thing, back in January 2006. With over 2000 entries to the telly competition, the online focus was to create a cheaper alternative through radio for these writers to hone their skills. With John’s filmic approach to directing radio dramas, Maud got him on board for the ensuing writing workshops. So inspired was he by the 8 shortlisted scripts, she eventually persuaded him and Goldhawk Productions to work with her to produce the winning dramas, mentoring the writers and directors as they made their radio debuts.
