The competition for The Play’s the Thing attracted over 2,000 submissions from novice drama writers with the judges finally selecting one winning play. Inspired by this huge response, The Play’s the Thing website offers the remaining 1,970 entrants and any other aspiring drama writers out there, further career support. Our focus is on radio drama writing as a viable entry point into the business of writing drama for any medium.

The Play’s the Thing is an online repository and marketplace for radio drama, written by aspiring and emerging writers with script training and development delivered through 4talent, Channel 4’s blended learning initiative to support 16-34 year olds pursue a career in the creative industries.
