The Play's the Thing

The Colonel by Caroline Gilfillen

When the man who tortured him during the Chilean coup of 1973 is placed under his care, nurse Pablo is forced to remember those painful events, and the consequences for him and Elena, his girlfriend at the time. Should he exact some form of revenge? Can he forgive the Colonel for the harm he caused not just to him but to thousands of others?  The drama, which moves between a London private hospital in the 1990s and Santiago in 1973, explores these dilemmas, and the effects the experience has on Pablo’s private life.
