Series 1 (2004)
The first series of Channel 4’s Shariah TV focuses on dispelling myths, personal choice, questions of lifestyle, and coexistence in a secular society.
Each of the five programmes consists of a recorded studio discussion in which young Muslims raise issues of concern to them in their lives. They have an opportunity to explore these questions with the help of eminent Muslim scholars. The presenter is So Rahman.
- Programme 1: Dispelling myths
The first episode of Shariah TV introduces the series, with the aim of dispelling stereotypes and misconceptions that have grown up about Islam. - Programme 2: Questions of lifestyle
The second episode looks at the daily lives of Muslims in Britain and what Shariah says about leisure, health, sport and finance. - Programme 3: Friends and family
In the third programme, the audience and panel discuss how Shariah affects friendships and family relationships. - Programme 4: Citizen Islam
The fourth programme explores how Muslims can participate and contribute as good citizens in a secular society. - Programme 5: Living together
In the final episode, people from a variety of religions, as well as atheists, alongside Muslims, discuss how Islam relates to other faiths.
