Henri Gaudier-Brzeska - Self-portrait 1912 Pencil
This drawing has also been stylized but this time in a semi-cubist style popular at the time it was made. Although it is a convincing likeness the features are much more angular than they would appear in real-life. Tonal areas have been built up in a series of diagonal lines placed tightly together in the darker shadows and spaced further apart to suggest light The artist is wearing a loose fitting shirt which is open giving the drawing an intimate and informal appeal.
