Caroline is relocating to Toxteth in Liverpool, one of the most deprived inner-city areas in the country with three quarters of children living in poverty. She's the first Secret Millionaire ever to take her child with her and will be living undercover on benefits for ten days with her two-year-old son Ashley.
Caroline is keen to find out more about Britain and help others, but she's surprised at how run down some of Toxteth is – it's a side of the UK she's never seen and she misses the community spirit she felt in Africa.
She meets Dijuan, a local mum of seven who runs an after-school project to keep young kids off the streets, determined that no other parent should have to deal with the heartache she felt when her own son, O'Shea, was killed in a road traffic accident.
But the project struggles with a tiny budget and relies on volunteers to keep things going.
And as Caroline struggles to cope as a single mum in Toxteth, away from her family and childcare help, she begins to appreciate even more the reality of families' lives in the area and meets other local people trying to provide support, including a crèche and dance class.
After ten days undercover Caroline begins to find the community spirit she hasn't seen before in the UK, but it's up to her to decide who receives part of her fortune.
