With the rise of "Brit art", painting has taken a back seat. Damien Hirst once said painting was dead, but Modern Painters features four artists who still use the traditional medium of paint in ways that are at once vital, energetic and contemporary, and challenge the modern art scene. This programme features work by Dawn Mellor, Johannes Phokela, David Rayson and Paul Housley.
