Lost for Words: The Challenges
We believe Monteagle is a fantastic school with wonderful children. Despite the challenges, we have every faith that Monteagle can get better and better.
Lynna Thompson & Mark Austin
The challenges are:
- A large number of children enter Monteagle with a low baseline.
- At least 20% of our children are vulnerable presenting with Special Needs, behaviour/emotional difficulties, or in care.
- The school pupil population is not stable.
- A large number of children have free school meals.
- A number of parents have literacy needs.
- A number of our parents have low aspirations for their children.
- A lack of parental support.
- Primary education is essential, but many of our parents fail to recognise this. One result being poor attendance.
- We have a vision of excellence for Monteagle. We need all members of the school community to start to share this vision.
