Nicola Benedetti
Born in July 1987, in West Kilbride, North Ayrshire, violinist Nicola Benedetti has established herself as one of British music's brightest young stars.

Nicola is a former winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, which she won at the age of 16, in 2004. Two years before that, she won the United Kingdom's Brilliant Prodigy Competiton, broadcast by Carlton TV.

Nicola studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School, in Surrey, and has performed at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Westminster Abbey, Holyrood House, and Windsor Castle, as well as in Paris and New York. In 2006, she played at the opening of the new Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh. She has appeared with some of Britain's leading orchestras.

Her first CD was released in 2005. Her second, recorded with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, and released in May 2006, features Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.
