Alexander Shindila and Katie Gleeson formed our partnership 3 years ago. Alex is 21 years of age and is from Moldova and Katie is also 21 years of age and is from London.

They compete internationally as an amateur ballroom couple and have won many titles. In 2004/05 they were the British Under 21 years of Age Ballroom Champions and in 2005 they were placed 4th in the British Open to the World Championships and the International Championships in the Under 21 years of age category – these were wonderful achievements as over 100 couples from literally around the globe take part in these championships.

Alex and Katie train for at least 3-4 hours every day and regularly visit the gym. Ballroom dancing is known as dancesport – they have to be fit to compete at a high level so they need to train to build their stamina as well as their dancing technique.

It is their ambition to one day become World Amateur Champions and then World Professional Champions. Ballroom dancing is their life and they enjoy competing in England and overseas.

Alex and Katie danced the waltz to Strauss' Roses from the South in How Music Works.
